EPS6612: Entrepreneurial Finance

This course focuses on the financial challenges and funding options associated with starting, building, and growing a new venture. Students examine a range of financing sources available to entrepreneurs, including personal investment, co-founders and partners, friends and family, bootstrapping, commercial lending, angel investors, venture capital, and other sources of seed and growth capital. The course explores how entrepreneurs evaluate funding choices in light of the venture’s stage, goals, risk profile, and ownership implications. Students will also examine the financial viability of new business opportunities, develop financial plans for emerging ventures, and consider the financial management challenges that arise over the life of a business. Topics may include financing start-ups, managing cash and growth, financial planning for small and medium-sized enterprises, preparing for investment, and navigating major transition points such as rapid expansion, sale, or failure.
